I bought this book because it sounded like a good love story. I was not disappointed.

It's about a man that had a bad start in life as a child growing up. He had also suffered great loss of loved ones. To make his living he wound up working in a brothel.

Elizabeth also had a rough life growing up and she now has two children she is responsible for. To make a long story short, she has learned that her mother-in-law is out to kill her and wants to take everything from her. Elizabeth's husband is dead and she really needs a protector.

She finds out through investigation that Gideon and she has ties and he can be her salvation.

It's a good love story with some suspense thrown in. It has a good ending which I liked.

The only reason I gave it three stars instead of four is because sometimes it was just too wordy and had several characters that were kind of hard for me to keep up with. It was just probably me though.

All in all it was a good book at an affordable price that I really enjoyed.

It was well written and held my interest. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to spend an afternoon reading a good love story

I finished this book within one night. I just couldn't put it down. The author does a beautiful job developing the characters. As you read you continue to fall in the with the characters. My only gripe is that at one point it felt like the story wasn't moving along fast enough. Other than that, I would recommend reading this book. You will not be disappointed.
An excellent and different storyline with challenge and intrigue. Take the storyline of redeeming a fallen woman and shift the view - this is a fallen man who is redeemed by a strong yet innocent woman. The situation is difficult and dangerous, the personalities are well developed and interesting and the story flows in interesting ways. Try it, you'll like it!
I liked this book much more than the first one in the series - though it was a good read. You can tell that both of these characters are fighting their own inner troubles (and some demons), and both desperately need someone to fight alongside them. They both provide that to each other, and I did love how it all worked out for them. The characters from the first book also make an appearance which is nice because it helps tie the series together. A book worth reading.
A good story with an unusual concept. Not your typical historical romance, but it was such an interesting twist. The characters were strong and the story had good detail, but the story at times was a little slow to progress at times. I enjoyed the read and might read the rest of the series, but right now I'm still a little undecided. The ending had a nice twist, but had already guessed who the villain was to be. Would recommend as I truly did enjoy the story.
I love the depth of emotion in this book, but there were several plot holes. Ms Brighton brings her characters to life and infuses them with deep emotion, allowing the reader to feel what they are feeling. Her writing style is wonderful and flowing. When I say there were plot holes, I feel that there were scenes that didn't fit, nor were they explained to a satisfactory conclusion. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will read others by this talented author.
A friend of mine suggested this book. I started reading thinking I was not going to like it. This was like eating potato chips, I could not put it down, ended up reading all night. Gideon is my hero, 1/2 way into the book I had to purchase the balance of the books in the series and 1 from another series. I look forward to having a lot of sleepless nights. The only down side, if you want to call it that, is not knowing who Mr. Smith really is. Although that was left dangling at the end, maybe Mr. Smith might be in one of the other books.
This is book 2 in the seduction series by Lori Brighton and I must say that I did enjoy the storyline but not nearly as much as book 1. I think it was because of the main character Gideon. He is arrogant, controlling, difficult, brutish and sometimes frustrating unlike the main character in book 1 Alex who was a complete charmer..After reading Gideon's story you understand why he is the way that he is but it is still sometimes difficult to keep that in prospective. I loved reading about the transformation that occurs between Gideon and Elizabeth as the plotline thickens and the ending is fabulous as well as the epilogue. We get to have a reunion with the characters from book 1 which is awesome. I would recommend reading this book but make sure you read book 1 first before reading this book for everything to fall into place.
