i feel like maybe 5 stars is a little overrated...but amazon says that's "i love it" and i really did love it. the heroine can get on my nerves a bit but i think she's gaining some maturity as she goes through the story which is good character development and also helps me to like her more. there's an interesting twist with the two main characters which makes me excited for the next book. as with the first, i thought the background/world building was very clever. fun read and much recommended.

The Nightmare Dilemma Arkwell Academy Mindee Arnett Books Reviews
The second book is awesome but really frustrating. There is a lot of moments where your just like,"no, don't do that" "STAPH. YOU REALLY DONT WANNA DO THAT" "*face palm times 22*" and then the characters are like "maybe we shouldn't have done that" and I'm just over here like 😑
A great second installment. This book is unique, captivating and truly a great deal of fun to read. Pick up the first one and then this to get started on a grand adventure in magical and mysterious worlds.
I liked this series and can't wait for the third book to come. Dusty and Eli are lovable characters and I liked them togethet.
It was entertaining. Not as enthrall in gas the first book, but i still read it in one night. I'm drawn more to the characters than to the world Miss. Arnett has created. If she could expand on the world a little bit more in the next book while still maintaining her characters, she'll knock it out of the park.
Again I'm really not sure why I didn't add a date when I read this the first time. Arnett does not disappoint with this thrilling return to Arkwell Academy.
With the Will gone so much has changed for Dusty and Eli, but at the same time nothing has changed at all. Dusty's momentary acceptance and accolades over the events of previous book has disappeared in the wake of the return of so much bigotry between the kinds who are now able to perform magic. Trust has all but disappeared between students of different races and secret radical sects have been formed on campus much to the delight of Merlin's former followers who are doing their best to incite war between the species from behind the scenes. Lance ends up with a curse meant for Ely, Brittany is attacked and Eli discovers he too has magic. And just like before Dusty finds herself at the center of all the drama.
I absolutely adored the way Arnett continues to weave Arthurian Myth and Legend into the lives of these Magical boarding school teens. The action is intense the love story even more so and this book can't be described as anything less than a page turner from beginning to end. Highly recommended.
I loved the first book, and I'll read both again before the third comes out. There are some tired ideas in the book, to add tension, but the book is good enough that I can't REALLY complain about that.
The sophomore curse is avoided in this entertaining sequel to The Nightmare Affair.
Dusty, Eli and Selena create the “Dream Team” which kinda reminds me of the Scooby team from my Buffy the Vampire Slayer watching days. When Britney a mermaid is attacked on school grounds Dusty is asked to dream walk with her to see what happened. What she finds is not what she expected and so she keeps it to herself.
To make matters even worse Lady Elaine asks that Dusty get close to her ex-boyfriend Paul again. As he is now back at school, even though in the previous book he was incohots with the Red Warlock. Her keeping an eye on Paul does interfer with her and Eli’s budding relationship. As does him sending mix singals.
Dusty is growing in her powers and in her confidence of herself. This book shows that growth which is entertaining to read. She is still as sassy as she was but now she is letting her sassiness show more. Selena is a great balance to Dusty. Selena is keeping a secret from her bestie though, a secret that needs to be shared. Her friendship and trust in Eli does take a hit in this book.
There is tension between the two- relationship tension. Eli keeps sending out mix messages- one second he is into her and the next he is not. This does cause Dusty to become a little boy crazy, but ultimately the mission she has been assigned does prevail. Eli’s indeference is explained later in the book and boy is the explaintion a dozy.
The Nightmare Dilemma is a fun read that allows you to escape your reality for a bit of time. I do recommend that you read the first book The Nightmare Affair before you tackle this one, as this is the sequel in the series.
My Rating 4 out of 5 stars
Favorite Quote “Go on, my little red-haired Nancy Drew. Hurry up. Be careful.”
Other People
Moira- Dusty’s momma, a nightmare as well
Lady Elaine- Dusty’s mentor and advisor
Lance- Eli’s jock roomie
Selena- Dusty’s bestie
